The special event station TM3FFI commemorates the agents with their secret transmitters in the Resistance of the Second World War from May 11-13, May 26, July 8-13 and from Jul 19-22. QSL via F8JZR .

DL, GERMANY, SPECIAL EVENT ( Until Dec 31 )

On the occasion of the completion of coal mining in Saarland a special event station signs DL250COAL (special DOK: 250Kohle) in all modes on all bands until Dec 31. QSL via bureau to DK8VR.

DXPEDITION OF THE YEAR

ST0R voted as Dxpedition of the Year -- During this weekend's International DX Convention in Visalia, California, the ST0R team was honored as the 'Dxpedition of the Year' as voted upon by the membership of the Northern California DX Club. The ST0R team is very honored to receive this recognition. ST0R Co-Leaders Antonio Gonzalez-EA5RM and Paul Ewing-N6PSE received the honors from NCDXC President, Russ Bentson-K6KLY. ST0R team members David Colling-ham-K3LP, Roberto Filloy Garcia-EA2RY and Hrane Milosevic-YT1AD were also present and participated in this great honor. The Intrepid-DX Group and the DX Friends/Tifariti Gang are very proud of this honor and are actively working on future plans for further DXpeditions together.

CARIBBEAN TOUR

Barry, ZS1FJ/9V1FJ/G4MFW, will be active from several different locations in the Caribbean during the month of May. All of the activities listed below will be under the CEPT authority, and he will be signing with the callsign ***/G4MFW (ex. PJ2/G4MFW, FS/G4MFW, etc...). Barry tells OPDX that this is not a holiday operation, but a serious operation. He will use low power (100w) with wire antennas, and it is possible that a fellow ham will be joining him to ramp up the activity. He also mentions that this is his 27th one man DXpedition, and that "I am an old style ham and this is on my 80th year. For example paper logs!" Look for him to be on 40/20/17/15/10 meters SSB only. Also, Dennis, ZS1AU, is expected to be the pilot for Barry's activities. QSL all activities via 9V1FJ in Singapore.

His tentative schedule is as follows:
May 9-11th - St. Maarten (PJ7) and St. Martin (FS) Islands
May 12-14th - Saba Island (PJ5)
May 15-16th - St. Barthelemy (FJ)
May 17-20th - Curacao (PJ2) and Bonaire (PJ4) Islands

ON, BELGIUM SPECIAL CALL ( From April 14 until Dec 31 )

The UBA section in Maldegem (ON4EKO) hits the airwaves in all modes on HF/VHF using the special call ON100TT from Apr 14 until Dec 31 to remember the sinking of the Titanic 100 years ago. QSL via ON4WDL

EI, IRELAND, EI80IRTS - SPECIAL CALL ( Throughout 2012 )

The Irish Radio Transmitters Society celebrates its 80th anniversary in 2012. The special event station EI80IRTS is active throughout 2012. QSL via EI4GXB, LoTW.

DL, GERMANY - DM100MGY - SPECIAL CALL

The sinking of the passenger liner Titanic has its 100th anniversary on Apr 15,2012. After hitting an iceberg the ship sank 300 nautical miles southeast of Newfoundland. Unfortunately, only about 700 of the 2200 passengers and crew members were rescued. It was one of the worst maritime disasters of civilian shipping. This resulted in numerous measures to accelerate the rescue of people at high seas. An international radio distress frequency was introduced and the duty to its constant monitoring. Even today these decisions are still valid and are written down in the SOLAS treaty, adapted to the technical possibilities of today.

Pista, HA5AO and George, HA5UK have been forced to cancel their announced South Pacific Tour (T2HA, 3D2HA, T30HA and T33HA) owing to reasons beyond their control (read the details on http://ha5ao.novolab.hu/ ). Their new target is Nauru (OC-031), and they will be active as C21HA until 6 February, with two stations on the HF bands. Being unable to use their SteppIR BigIR (its stepper drive motor has been stolen!), they have set up "an inverted L antenna for the second station, but it means strong limitation in signal strength. It is good for NA/SA but unlikly for EU. The two verticals are doing the job well, especially on the higher bands". QSL via HA5UK.

3D2_cr - ( 25 September and 6 October 2012 )

Hrane, YT1AD and a multi-national team of operators (AA4NN, AD6E, AH6HY, EA1IR, I2VGW, K3LP, K6SRZ, N6PSE, PY5EG, RW4NW, UA4HOX and WD5COV so far) will be active on all bands and modes as 3D2C from Conway Reef (OC-112) between 25 September and 6 October. HK0NA

The "Fabulous Four" advance team continue their work of building the infrastructure for HK0NA with emphasis shifting now to OP. A (top of the mountain). And ..in their spare time making some QSOs with the deserving.

Of course, we are hearing from a small minority that they are doing everything wrong and not listening here or there or whatever. May we suggest you everyone be patient and remember that 16 more operators will be there the morning of the 21 st. for up to 17 days.

Yesterday the DXCC desk confirmed that QSOs made by the advance team , when they used their individual calls, will count for DXCC purposes. Those logs will not be available until after the DXpedition concludes. May we suggest that you work HK0NA also.

We intend to upload the HK0NA logs to ClubLog soon after the arrival of the main operating team. Don't bother checking the "Log Online" until then.

Lastly, our volunteer pilots kindly request that you not contact them until after the main operation begins!
